Domestic automakers such as Ford and GM are still suffering poor public perception even though a recent study by J.D. Power showed that both Ford and GM’s most recent models are high quality automobiles, which can be found at Cincinnati Used Cars dealers. Repair shops like Sarasota Auto Body have seen fewer new domestic cars because of better manufacturing and technology.  Lincoln was ranked second in the study for improving their brand and Buick was ranked third also for improvements.

Although both GM and Ford’s latest models have taken great strides in design and technological improvement, consumers have been slow to catch on.  Sales have steadily rose for models such as the 2010 Mustang and 2010 Camaro. But, it still remains to be seen whether more consumers will begin to view other Ford and GM models in a more positive light.

However public perception of domestic automakers is improving.  In a poll conducted by the Associated Press, 38 percent of Americans felt that domestic cars were the best cars available, as opposed to 33 percent who felt that foreign cars were the best available.  That was a major improvement from a 2006 poll in which 46 percent of Americans preferred foreign cars and only 29 percent preferred domestic cars.

Part of the reason why domestic perception is rising is because of Toyota’s recent highly publicized dangerous problems with accelerators sticking in certain models.  However, Toyota performed well in the J.D. Power study, with Toyota owners as a whole reporting few problems.  The brand won more segment awards than any other brand in 2010 as well.

Some of the brands with the poorest public perception in the study were Cadillac, Mercury, Hyundai, and Lincoln.  The study said that these brands were “avoided at relatively high rates due to customer concerns about reliability.”  Improvements in public perception of domestic brands is likely to take time, as most industry PR experts believe that consumer opinions sometimes do not change very quickly for the better.

Ford intends to expand the Lincoln lineup in order to compete with Cadillac and Lexus, which are owned by General Motors and Toyota respectively.  The new lineup will feature 7 new vehicles over the next 4 years.  The selling points of the new Lincolns will be a modern design, leading technology, and fuel efficient engines, which are intended to create a unique luxury user experience.

Current Lincoln models include the MKS sedan, MKT seven passenger crossover, and the MKZ mid-sized sedan.  A MKZ hybrid is expected to be released later on in 2010 that is anticipated to be one of the most fuel efficient sedans available.  The debut of the 2011 MKX is highly anticipated as it will demonstrate the first model to use the new MyLincoln Touch technology.

Other expected developments from Ford’s Lincoln brand include new Lincoln V-6 engines with newer fuel-efficient transmissions, Ecoboost engines available in all Lincoln models, fuel saving features in every Lincoln model, and several new technology features.

Some of the technology features that may be included in the new Lincoln models includes retractable glass roofs, MyLincoln Touch, push button gear selectors, computer controlled suspensions, and more.

Lincoln has steadily gained ground in the domestic luxury automobile market, with increased market shares over the past 5 years.  Lincoln has grown from 4.5 percent in 2005 of the domestic luxury vehicle market up to 6.3 percent in the first quarter of 2010.

Thanks to another step made by the Ford Company, the Ford Explorer has been renovated to attend to these trends and help please a more compact-friendly consumer. As well as providing a more stable fuel economy for the Ford consumer, it also provides functionality that cannot be beat in the automotive world.

The only down-side to the all new 2011 Ford Explorer resides in the newer models inability to provide the 7,115-pound towing capacity that it used to. Even the off-roading is limited in the newer model, as compared to the older model Explorer that was very good about a variety of terrains. The newer models, can only really manage terrains with specific weather or road conditions. Whether or not this is useful to the buyer or not, remains a personal decision of their own.

Consumers have waited, and remained loyal to the Ford Company while they eagerly turn their attention to what Ford is going to offer for them in the near future. One of those cars, is the 2011 Ford Edge. These are all great additions to the newly respected Ford Edge, but nothing tops the MyFord Touch features that equips the car with three touch screens and a five-way controller.

With all of these grand features in the Ford Edge, it will definitely be expected to be a popular buy among Cincinnati Ford Dealer consumers. The only problem with these additions lies within the Touch features that, according to some reviewers, may make things a bit complicated on the road.  Such as, turning up the radio while driving and/or trying to pay attention to the road over all the fancy gadgets running in the background.

Are you one of those people who feel good when they know they’re helping the Earth? Well, Ford Motor has announced that 85 percent of each Ford vehicle, even those at your Cincinnati Ford dealer, made now is recyclable. In addition to the usual car parts that have been recycled for years, Ford has also been adding sustainable raw materials or recycled materials for components in select cars. Ford’s use of components like splash shields and engine covers made from post-consumer recycled plastics has prevented an estimated 25 million to 30 million pounds of plastic from going into landfills, according to company statistics.

For example, the 2010 Ford Taurus, will be the 11th Ford vehicle to have seat cushions, seat backs, and headrests made from soy and biomass-based foam. Ford-produced vehicles that already have this include: the Ford Mustang, F-150, Focus, Flex, Escape, Expedition, Econoline, Mercury Mariner, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln Navigator. All of these vehicles can be found at a New Hampshire Ford dealer.

The company is also using seat fabrics made from recycled yarn in the Ford Escape and Escape Hybrid, and in the 2010 Ford Flex the storage bins are made from wheat straw-reinforced plastic. lts goal is to eventually make cars where none of the plastic components are made from petroleum, but from things that are completely compostable.

So, why is Ford suddenly spinning all this oh-we-forgot-to-mention-we’ve-always-been-environmentalists info now? In addition to it being Earth Day, it could be that Ford is as flabbergasted as the rest of us that the 2010 World Green Car of the Year award went to a green branding program instead of an actual car. Volkswagen won the prestigious car award for its BlueMotion versions of the Golf, Passat, and Polo. BlueMotion is their brand name for the versions of the cars that include extra efficiency technology. Perhaps, Ford is taking it one step further and planning to add sustainable materials into its own green branding of cars so that you can obtain one at Concord Ford dealer too.
